Nestled among the King Range National Forest, Shelter Cove, (population 804 and growing)
Fly in for an overnight or longer, this is the coolest little airstrip in California ... 0Q5 well in my opinion at least.
Come get lost and find yourself in the Cove.
Breathe the fresh air, feel the moisture return to your skin,
Lay down on the smooth round black stones at Black Sands Beach,
feel the sun soaked warmth while listening to the waves crashing on shore.
Shelter Cove Activities:
There are a wide range of hiking trails for all levels of walkers:
Join the local morning walking group at 9AM for an hour loop around the airstrip starting at the lighthouse.
Explore neighborhood trails through the greenbelt.
Hike trails with elevation gain in the King Range Wilderness,
or plan a few days to backpack the Lost Coast Trail.
Mountain biking is optional on most hiking trails
beach walks ~ explore the tide pools ~ seasonal whale watching ~ amazing night sky viewing
Come visit the edge of the earth and give yourself some chill time.
